So Many of you are viewing my blog… oddly. I have never liked blogs however they are a good tool for reaching out to an audience, and you my friend are my audience.
So I’m going to back track a little for you and tell you my story of how I got here and where I came from.
Lets start as far back as 7 years ago, I had just graduated from highschool and like many others had no clue what I wanted to do other than be rich ( its not working out just yet ). I Knew two things very well in my life. Cars and computers, were my passions. I don’t even buy a car unless I can in some way monitor or even modify it using a computer.
I first taught my self to program back when I used a program called mIRC at age 14. I learned how to use its scripting language and The scripting language was Very much like C++. From this day on I knew I loved to program. It didn’t matter if it was a stupid program by the request of my dad to read in the past two years of lotto numbers. find the ones most used and least then list them in order or if it was just “Hello World.”
I knew I loved cars once I finally got to work on a 454 Big block Chevy with my dad. It was just his work truck but the mechanics of rebuilding the engine were amazing to me. I later went on to build a 417 HP 1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. The dreams of this car were never truly realized however because the turbo sucked in a vacuum tube after I pulled a bone head move and did not tighten down the filter that was located directly on the turbo.
Well by now your asking “What the hell does this have to do with the site?” It currently doesn’t in an abstract context. However when some one asks me what I love to do I say work on cars and code, in which coding will eventually pay for the Twin turbo 4.6 Mustang I want to build.
OK well 5 years ago now I decided where I lived I could either say, ” I’m ok with making enough just to be broke” or ” I’m getting the hell out of here.”
I chose the later. I joined the Navy, I made Second Class in my first 4 years but decided to get out Honorably as GSE2(SW) Harris. The civilian world isn’t much different from the military except for the fact that you cannot quit your job and they control every aspect of how you live your day ( my command required you to write a “chit” if you wanted to do things like buy a car or get married ). Speaking of getting married. I did to Stephanie c Harris, we eventually had a child that is now 3 days away from being 11 months old named Logan. We are both Highly addicted to World of Warcraft and run our own very small guild of elitists on server Sisters of Elune called <Gun Metal Grace> which was an old guild name we used to be part of on Anvilmar but because of guild splits and such disbanded and was no more.
Hmm Looking back in Just this I ramble a lot. Oh well hopefull i havn’t lost all of you just yet. I Recenty got out of the Navy on Sep, 27, 2009 and started school at Coleman College, San diego. I immediately met Jack, who was wearing a calvin pissing on Craigslist shirt which I found hilarious. aside from that I had no idea what the real meaning behind it was… Yet. A few weeks go by in Java class and Jack ask’s me if I can help him with a few issues of the site and I already knew PHP from playing with Multiple websites I created over the years, none of which worth a shit. I helped him get the Adult warning page to work for those who cannot support cookies… and looking back now I could have changed 1 keyword and it would work exactly the same and be totally serverside…. mebbe I should implement that instead of the way its currently done. ANY WAY. He continued to ask questions and I was able to answer them.
Long story short jack offered me a position with a growing website that with a little help will eventually make it big. I honestly believed that it would just looking at the site and the amount of dedication he had put into it knowing as little about html/php/java that he did. He has the determination to make this thing work and I have the determination to build a site thats time flexible meaning that over time upgrades will be easier to implement and much more user friendly to the user than the average.
In the past 3 months I went from knowing C++ to knowing the basics of Java, PHP, JavaScript, and AJAX. Easiest of all those languages however i still believe is PHP.
Well I suppose i’ll eventually see some of you in the world of Azeroth. Later folks!
